John,
I hope you all are safe and healthy. These are trying times for all of us – healthwise, financially, and socially. I want all of you to know that taking care of one another is the most important thing right now as we navigate our new reality in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic.
This means stepping up to do more for others if you are healthy, able, and willing. We are sharing information on all of our social channels about how to support the community during this difficult time. As a campaign, we are plugged into Lifecare Alliance’s Meals on Wheels program to make sure people in Central Ohio are getting meals even if they cannot leave their homes. These volunteer efforts are considered essential services and comply with the Governor’s stay-in-place order.
We now also have an important update on our election. This week, the state legislature did not change the date of the election (March 17, 2020), but instead extended the window of time to request and return absentee ballots to April 28, 2020. There will be no in-person voting day.
While I agreed with the Governor’s decision to close polls on March 17th due to public health concerns, I believe the legislature’s decision this week will almost certainly lead to disenfranchisement. People are currently getting laid off trying to figure out how to pay their bills, and don’t have time to navigate our state’s arcane, multi-step, absentee ballot process.
Despite this tight timeline, we’re ready to mobilize quickly to educate everyone in OH-3 about the new mail-in only ballot procedure. But reaching all voters with this information is our biggest challenge so far. Though we know everyone is stretched thin right now, anything you can contribute to support us will critically fund our adjusted grassroots strategy in the face of these unprecedented circumstances. I am very appreciative of your support.

Despite all of these changes and adjustments, I know that we can successfully make the case to OH-3 voters about the need for new political leadership. In the face of this global pandemic and economic crisis, we all see that something has to change. Electing political leaders who are free of corporate money is our first, important step.
33 days to go. Let’s win this.
Morgan
