Reading books is all well and good, but you have to practice pulling it out of your head and putting it into your own words. Beer can sometimes help that process.

TOMORROW, February 27th, 1-2pm -- NOSHIP's call for public comment at the Port of New Orleans: Show the Port that the people have the power and we demand the Port stop shipping weapons and chemical agents to Israel through OUR water. No more cultural and trade ties with Israel! Please arrive on time to ensure access into the meeting. Template statements will be provided. NOTE: this is not a rally. THURSDAY, February 29th @ 6:30-8:30pm -- Teach-In: A Review of Movement History & Support for Palestine: Join a coalition of organizers (including our friends at Baton Rouge DSA) that grew from the ground up for a teach-in! It will focus on shared stories of oppression and liberation between movements fighting for freedom and autonomy. Learn about why and how these movements have historically supported the Palestinian people and about shared strategies of success. FRIDAY, March 1st, 6pm -- NOLA Freedom Forum: Join NOSHIP at Cafe Istanbul for a Freedom Forum panel on the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction movement! NOSHIP (New Orleans Stop Helping Israel’s Ports) is leading the New Orleans movement to end aid to Israel, specifically by demanding an end to the Port NOLA’s tech trade agreement with the port of Ashdod. Panel will also feature Palestinian professor of finance, Dr. Mosab Hammoudeh, speaking on the origins and effectiveness of BDS. Lastly, the panel will discuss the potential liability of the Port of New Orleans, the Federal Government and U.S Companies complicit in the manufacturing and shipment of deadly chemical weapons to Israel.
SATURDAY, MARCH 2ND EVENTS -- GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION!:
10AM-2PM -- Run, Bike, Walk 5k for Gaza “Running Out of Occupatience”: Join our 3rd annual virtual GAZA 5K Team “Running out of Occupatience”! We have groups running, walking and biking in NOLA, Santa Fe and the Bay to help raise money to increase access to mental health care for all Palestinian refugee children in Gaza. NOW more than ever we commit to supporting the children of Gaza and UNRWA for the lifesaving work they have engaged in since 1949 supporting over 4 generations and 5.9 million+ Palestinian refugees. 10:30-12PM (on the Northshore!) -- Kites for Gaza Workshop: Join the global day of kite flying for Palestine at this kid-friendly workshop at St. Tammany Parish Library Causeway Branch! Let creativity soar as we learn to craft kites, decorating them while learning important symbols of Palestine. All materials provided for a paper kite masterpiece! 🎨 We'll wrap up at noon, weather permitting, to watch our kites take flight at the Mandeville Lakefront. 🌦️ Save the date, and in case of rain, our kite-flying shifts to March 10. 👉 RSVP for the workshop here!🎥 As a bonus, attendees will enjoy a free rental of "Flying Paper," a heartwarming documentary co-produced by Palestinian youth aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the most kites flown. 🎬 Don't miss this inspiring tale of resilience and creativity!
11AM-1PM & 2-4PM -- Hospitality for Humanity's Palestine Write-In: This national day of action, we must demand of our elected officials to call for a permanent ceasefire and to stop arming Israel. We are joined by thousands in the food, beverage, and hospitality sector as part of Hospitality for Humanity's pledge to use our collective power to stop the genocide of Palestinians. Writing supplies and templates will be provided. Come be in community and let us nourish you while we make our voices heard. At Sneaky Pickle & Bar Brine 11AM-1PM and Turkey and the Wolf 2-4PM.
4PM -- Rally for Palestine @ Jackson Square: Join us and millions of people across the world on March 2 as we take to the streets to demand liberation for Palestine! As Israel and the US threaten Rafah with invasion, the time is now to mobilize! No amount of repression and intimidation will stop us. Join us in the streets!

4:45-5:30 -- Weekly Community Mourner’s Kaddish: Every Sunday, members of Jewish Voice for Peace hold a weekly gathering for public recitation of the Mourner’s Kaddish. Meet at the riverwalk steps close by Cafe du Monde. Gathering at 4:45p. Program 5-5:30p. All are welcome. ••• The grief that many of us hold as a direct result of Israel’s ongoing, gruesome genocidal campaign and the Zionist hate that underlies it would be impossible for anyone to bear in isolation—but in the movement for Palestinian liberation, no one need ever stand alone. We hold this space to sustain each other and to build toward a movement made to endure.
