By the time he turned 6 years old, Nathan had spent more than six months in the hospital. He suffered a stroke, then needed a heart transplant – and in the darkest days of his illness, his mom said it was like his spirit had been broken.
But his doctor knew that a wish could make a world of difference for Nathan. To cheer himself up, Nathan played with trains in his hospital bed and read every train book he could find. So when it came time to make his wish, he knew instantly what his ultimate wish would be: To become a train conductor for a day.
Thanks to the support of people like you, Nathan’s conductor wish came true. He was able to ride up at the front of a train with the conductor – proudly donning his own conductor uniform. This wish was a turning point in reigniting the joyful spirit that his illness had taken from him.
But these wishes don't only take planning – they also take resources and funds. And for every child whose wish we grant, two more kids like Nathan are eagerly waiting for their own to come true.
We don't want one wish kid to wait unnecessarily. That's why this $100,000 American Heart Month goal is so important.
Please, will you make a gift before we reach the deadline? We're looking for supporters to give for wish kids like Nathan, and we're waiting on you! |
