John,
For far too long, Boeing has had a “profits above all” mindset — often at the expense of passenger safety and the wellbeing of their workers. And now, amidst nationwide coverage of structural failure in a Boeing 737 Max, we’re seeing the fallout.
Between 1998 and 2018, Boeing shelled out over $61 billion on stock buybacks. That's 81.8% of its profits.
Last year, Boeing spent over $10,710,000 on lobbying efforts, and $10,640,000 went to air travel lobbying -- the highest amount of spending in the industry. In 2022, they relocated their national headquarters from Chicago to Arlington, VA to be closer to Capitol Hill to lobby more frequently.
Boeing needs to get their priorities straight and focus on the numerous safety issues their aircraft have. Join us and sign on to demand public hearings into the safety crisis at Boeing.
A few weeks ago, Boeing CEO David Calhoun met privately with lawmakers on Capitol Hill — who shared that Calhoun provided no answer as to what caused the door to blow out of a 737 Max mid-flight in January. Chief Executives from both Alaska Airlines and United Airlines have publicly voiced their concerns regarding Boeing’s priorities.
The public deserves to hear from the CEO and other executives at Boeing immediately. Add your name to demand public hearings into the safety crisis at Boeing now.
Thank you for signing,
Democratic Values
