John, with 9 months to go before this year’s presidential elections, sponsoring an Election Protection volunteer might be the furthest thing from your mind.
But I’m here to let you know that we already have hundreds of volunteers out in the field, helping voters safely cast their ballots during the primaries. And, we’re already well into recruiting volunteers for early voting and Election Day, too.
The truth is, our work to recruit and train volunteers begins long before most people tune in to the elections in November. In fact, the amount of resources we’re able to invest right now determines how big our Election Protection effort is going to be in November.
The whole team at Common Cause has some pretty ambitious goals this year: We’re trying to run our biggest Election Protection program yet – going even bigger than our historic mobilization in 2020. But we can’t do this without you.
John, this goal isn’t without cause. This past year was one of the worst in terms of sheer number of restrictive voting laws passed – second only to 2021 in the last decade. [1]
I’m not telling you this to instill fear, John. In fact, I’m trying to signal the exact opposite. I’ve been monitoring the landscape and preparing our response, because I know that our dedicated team of staff and volunteers – along with members like you – are capable of fighting back against these harmful laws and ensuring every single vote counts this year.
This isn’t going to be an easy fight, but with you by my side, I know it’s a fight we CAN and WILL win. Please let me know I can count on having you by my side this year.
