wildlife in the Gila National Forest!

Dear Defender of
Wildlife,
As wildlife habitats go, the Gila National Forest stands out for being
home to an incredible array of species - including the
critically imperiled Mexican gray wolf.
But under the Trump administration, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS)
could soon sacrifice this forest to the logging and livestock
industries. They'll soon decide if the management of these
protected lands will put extractive industries over wildlife and clean
water.
ACT NOW: Tell the USFS to protect Mexican gray wolves and other
vulnerable wildlife in the Gila National Forest!

The Gila is a national treasure with 3.3 million acres of forested
hills, mountains and grasslands. This remarkable forest hosts 13
wildlife species protected under the Endangered Species Act.
The Forest Service is in the process of drafting a management plan for
the Forest that will determine its future. This plan will serve as the
blueprint for how the Forest will protect wildlife and habitat from
threats like logging and overgrazing of livestock for the next 15 or
more years.
Public feedback is due by April 15th - that doesn't give us much
time to make sure that the updated plan will meet the needs of the
Gila's most vulnerable species.
Please take a moment and demand that the new Gila National Forest
management plan puts wildlife first!

It's critical that we make sure this plan designates key areas as
Wilderness, Wild and Scenic Rivers, or other land designations that
will protect at-risk species' habitats. The plan must also protect
at-risk species from herbicides, especially vulnerable pollinators and
plants.
The wildlife that call the Gila National Forest home are counting on
us to make sure they're safe for decades to come. Please join us in
demanding that these species get the protections they deserve!
Don't wait - take a moment to protect Gila wildlife, including
Mexican gray wolves, right now!

Thank you for all you do for wildlife.
Sincerely,
Lauren McCain
