Dear Friend of MCV,

I wanted to make sure you saw our message below — the bill to restore the Wabanaki Nations’ inherent right to self-determination is scheduled for a public hearing TODAY at 10 AM.

If you haven't yet, please submit written testimony in support of LD 2007 BY 10 AM TODAY. This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard in support of fairness and justice for the Wabanaki.

Now is the time to make your voice heard on this important issue. Passing LD 2007 will put the tribes in Maine on equal footing with the 570 other federally-recognized tribes in every other state in the country — this is an issue of fairness and equity. Your testimony will help move this bill forward by demonstrating overwhelming public support throughout Maine.

Here’s what to do :
If you haven’t already, draft your testimony :
Use the template at the bottom of this email.
Make it personal. Testimony is most compelling when it’s personal and from the heart. Why is restoring tribal self-governance important to you? Take a look at the Wabanaki Alliance’s LD 2007 Talking Points for ideas. [[link removed]]
Be specific. Highlight one or more key elements of the bill and why they’re needed. You can find details about the bill on the Wabanaki Alliance’s LD 2007 FAQ page. [[link removed]]
Keep it brief. Your testimony should be one page or less and to the point.
Submit before Monday, February 26 at 10 AM.
