** It’s the Final Countdown (to E-Day)!
------------------------------------------------------------

Friends -

Over the next 9 days, Team Cabaldon will be in overdrive, talking to our supporters and making sure everyone votes by March 5!

If you haven’t already mailed in your ballot, you can drop it off at a vote center near you. ([link removed]) If you can’t find your ballot, you can request a replacement by submitting this form ([link removed]) [link removed] your local county elections official. If you or your neighbors need help voting, you can contact Team Cabaldon here ([link removed]) and our campaign is happy to assist you.

Today, I am sharing a recent podcast I was interviewed for in Contra Costa, updates from the campaign trail, and a few more letters from voters that have written into their local newspapers.

We've come so far since our journey began nearly a year ago. Let’s finish this campaign with the same spirit of determination, community, and unity that has propelled us this far!

In Solidarity,

Christopher Cabaldon

Candidate for State Senate District 3

** Chris-crossing the District Continues!
------------------------------------------------------------

Over the last two weeks we’ve done meet-and greets with voters in Benicia, Brentwood, Cotati, Dixon, Fairfield, Oakley, Rio Vista, Rohnert Park, Suisun City, Vacaville, Vallejo, Winters, and Woodland (we’ll be in St. Helena on Wednesday), as well as community events in Davis, Fairfield, Napa, Clarksburg, Benicia, Calistoga, Oakley, St. Helena, Vallejo, Vacaville, Woodland, and American Canyon.

There isn’t enough space in this newsletter for me to share all of the amazing photos but here are a few of the highlights!

** Conversation with Contra Costa News Podcast
------------------------------------------------------------

This week I sat down for an interview with Mike Burkholder on the Contra Costa News Podcast ([link removed]) ! One thing almost everyone in the 3rd Senate District thinks is that their own area is “just a small part of the district.” It is a feeling I understand, coming from a city of 55,000 people.

But that’s part of what makes our district special—we live in 21 cities and towns and in six counties where we often seem invisible to state policymakers. I’m running to make sure that voters in every part of our region are heard. And for us to get to know each other!

We talk about a critical range of issues, including education, insurance, mental health, gun safety, crime, whether schools should be armed with police, seniors, and plenty of other topics in this hour long conversation.

I hope you will take this opportunity to listen to a longer-form interview about the issues that are important to our communities!

** Celebrating a 36 Year Tradition with Sonoma Valley Democrats!
------------------------------------------------------------

Last week I joined elected officials from throughout the state at one of the great annual events in our region: the 36th Annual Sonoma County Democratic Party Crab Feed!

In the midst of all the craziness of a campaign, it was a pleasure to get to spend an evening with the activists and community members that have dedicated their lives to pushing for progressive change in our region!

(Former CA State Controller and current gubernatorial candidate Betty Yee)

(Assembly Majority Leader Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Tracy Krumpen)

(Sonoma County Democrats President Beth Haldey)

(President Pro Tem Emeritus and gubernatorial candidate Toni Atkins)

** “Running” in the Davis Stampede
------------------------------------------------------------

There was an incredible turnout this morning at the Annual Davis Stampede ([link removed]) ! I was proud to log my slowest 5K time ever because I got talk to so many voters who are up early and ready to walk about public schools, reproductive rights and their aspirations for our region.

** Woodland City Councilmember Tom Stallard Writes in the Woodland Daily Democrat
------------------------------------------------------------

“I write to encourage all of Woodland to vote for Christopher Cabaldon for State Senate. I have known and worked with Christopher for over 25 years. He is one of the most intelligent and hardest-working people you will ever meet.

The transformation of West Sacramento during his leadership as mayor speaks for itself. Christopher is an idea person. We adopted the College Promise Program as well as Bee Line on-demand transit in Woodland following his lead in West Sacramento. We really need someone with his talent representing Yolo County in the State Senate. Mark your ballot for Christopher Cabaldon.”

** Benicia’s Larnie Fox writes in the Vacaville Reporter
------------------------------------------------------------

“Benicia’s local Democratic Club hosted an event to meet the state Senate District 3 candidates on Zoom… I watched and listened carefully. Christopher was attentive, well-informed, and answered questions clearly. His values aligned with mine, and most of the other virtual attendees.

”For me, it’s a pretty easy choice… Do your homework, then vote for Cabaldon.”

** Vallejo’s Ann Carr Writes in the Vacaville Reporter
------------------------------------------------------------

“President Obama appointed Cabaldon to the board of College Promise, where he worked with First Lady Biden to initiate free college education in 400 cities. Over 24 years, five different California governors have appointed Cabaldon to regional and state commissions on water, air quality, education and transportation. He served as Vice Chancellor for California Community Colleges, and Chief of Staff for the state Appropriations Committee. Cabaldon is ready to hit the ground running. As the Mercury News said in endorsing him, “Cabaldon is one of the best-prepared candidates for the state Legislature that we’ve seen this year. He already knows the policy and the process well.” They conclude: “In that election, former West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon is the standout choice.”

** Winters’ Jesse Loren and Brian Bellamy Write in the Winters Express
------------------------------------------------------------

“As our community prepares to choose its next state senator to represent District 3, We are excited to share our support for Christopher Cabaldon. In this pivotal moment, we have the opportunity to elect a leader who truly understands and values the unique needs of our region. Christopher Cabaldon has demonstrated time and again his commitment to education, students, innovation, housing, and economic planning.

For Winters, having a senator who will advocate tirelessly for the needs of our small town is crucial. Christopher Cabaldon is not just a candidate; he is the embodiment of that advocacy. I urge you to consider his candidacy carefully, as he represents our best choice for a brighter future.”

** Benicia’s Steve Golub Writes in the Benicia Herald and Benicia Independent
------------------------------------------------------------

“[Christopher'] deserves our votes in the nonpartisan primary, in which we can vote by mail right now or in person on March 5.

In the candidates forum I attended, which involved the three Democrats, he offered by far the broadest and deepest knowledge of issues affecting Benicia and the many other areas he’d represent if elected. He also came across as someone who is not just a fine speaker, but a good listener, eager to engage with constituents.

At another event, he provided the clearest analysis I’ve heard or read about the “California Forever” initiative that would allow ultra-wealthy and secretive Silicon Valley investors to pretty much do as they please with the large swaths of Solano County they secretly purchased in recent years. I came away from that talk with a clearer understanding of their still-murky motives and plans. (One possibility: They might be motivated by zoning changes that could allow them to reap prodigious profits by reselling the land to developers, despite their promises to build model, affordable cities.) With Cabaldon in office, Benicia would have an important ally in protecting not only our interests but all of Solano County and District 3.”
