Jack, I am getting really sick and tired of writing about the demise of more and more news organizations. On Friday alone news broke that Vice Media and Buzzfeed are laying off more staff and in the case of the DCist, shutting down.

Daily Kos isn't immune to the financial struggles that each of these organizations faced. Last year Daily Kos was forced to make deep budget cuts. Unfortunately, with declining revenue, we will have to make more budget cuts.

Thankfully, unlike so many other news organizations, Daily Kos has a supportive community that donates a few dollars at a time to power our work. Grassroots donations now account for over 60% of our overall budget.

However, we can't continue producing the quality of content and effective actions you have come to expect if we can't reach our monthly fundraising goals. We need to raise another $69,395 in a matter of days.
