Hi John,

In case you missed it, this morning Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick and Jared Golden appeared on Face the Nation on CBS to highlight their bipartisan Defending Democracies, Defending Borders Act. During their appearance, which comes on the heels of their new op-ed ([link removed] ) in The Hill, they discussed both the urgent need for foreign aid to Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia and tackling the severe security crisis at our southern border.

As Rep. Fitzpatrick pointed out, the urgency of this bill cannot be overstated, which is why they are seeking to expedite passage in the House through a legislative mechanism that shortens the usual consideration period from 30 days to just seven. "This bill is time-sensitive and existential," Fitzpatrick emphasized, highlighting the dire situation in Ukraine with Avdiivka's fall to Russian forces and the pressing issue of fentanyl crossing our unsecured borders.

Rep. Golden underscored the bipartisan nature of the support for Ukraine and the critical need for border security measures. He stressed the importance of opening up the House floor to amendments and fostering a middle-ground approach to reach a consensus. "The votes are there to support Ukraine and our other allies...and the votes are there on border security as well," Golden remarked, signaling a strong bipartisan commitment to tackling these issues head-on.

Their legislation, as discussed, not only addresses the immediate need for military aid and support to allies like Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan but also proposes significant measures to secure the U.S. border. This includes re-implementing the "Remain in Mexico" policy, which mandates migrants wait outside the U.S. while their asylum claims are processed, with certain humanitarian exceptions.

This appearance on Face the Nation was not just about showcasing their bill but was a powerful call to action for Congress to move swiftly on these critical issues.

No Labels will continue to support these brave Problem Solvers as they work across the aisle to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our nation and our allies today.
