"If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated."
- Carter G. Woodson, the father of Black History Month As we continue to focus on realizing the dream of equality in this nation, we must also understand and reflect on the history that got us here. We must celebrate the accomplishments, the art, the words, the music, the culture, and the traditions passed down through generations of our Black ancestors. We must continue the work of those who came before us. We must face our past and fight for our future. We must continue to dream. |
