John, our climate champions are making a difference. Period.
Just look at Chicago’s mayor Brandon Johnson. Mayor Johnson’s administration is taking bold action to hold the titans of the oil and gas industry accountable.
Chicago is suing five major oil and gas companies for intentionally misleading the public about the harm their products do to our planet and our communities — and demanding these companies reimburse the city for climate-related damages.
This is a testament to why local elections matter. Even when Congress is gridlocked, Jane PAC’s endorsed climate champions like Mayor Johnson are taking decisive action to combat the climate crisis.
Now, Chicago is joining dozens of other cities and states to hold Big Oil accountable in court. This collective action underscores the power and importance of local leadership in our battle against climate change.
For too long, companies like BP, Chevron, and Exxon Mobil have peddled their deadly products to a trusting public, and equally deadly lies at every step. While they reap massive profits to line their pockets and fill campaign coffers to protect their agenda, we, the people, are stuck with the true costs. And we’re paying for it with our health, our livelihoods, and the chance of a livable future. From the smog that blankets our cities to fires that turn our skies red to floods that destroy our homes, the impacts are sometimes hard to fathom.
Mayor Brandon Johnson is here to say enough is enough.
