March 27, 2020: Americans are increasingly practicing social distancing. Sixty-eight percent (68%) say they are now avoiding small gatherings of people, such as gatherings with family or friends. That data is from a Gallup survey completed on March 22.[1]
The survey shows a dramatic increase from the week before when just 23% were avoiding such smaller gatherings.
The survey also found that 92% are avoiding events with large crowds and 87% are avoiding travel by plane, bus, subway, or train. Seventy-two percent (72%) are avoiding going to public places like restaurants or stores. In all cases, those numbers were up significantly from the week before.[1]
