Lesko Meetings this Week

It was great meeting with the students of the BASIS Peoria Youth Policy Assembly Club to talk about what a Congresswoman does, how I became a Congresswoman, and ways our office can assist them and their families if they ever have a problem with a federal agency.

GET THE FACTS: George Washington

In honor of Presidents’ Day being this past Monday, I thought that it would be fun to take a look back at America’s first President, George Washington. So here are some fun facts about our first leader!

1.     George Washington’s first job was as a surveyor.
2.     He once contracted smallpox while visiting Barbados.
3.     His first elected office was in the House of Burgesses.
4.     He was unanimously elected President of the United States, TWICE!
5.     George Washington was meant to be buried at the Capitol, but passed before its construction and was laid to rest at Mount Vernon instead.

Casework Highlight

Our office was contacted on behalf of a medical provider that provides hospice services to constituents. The business had several claims for payment pending with Medicare that were outside of normal processing times. The business was in financial hardship and at risk of not being able to service more patients due to the payment needs. Our office was able to contact Medicare which resulted in a payment of the pending claims to the business.
