The amount of money corporations are spending to influence our politicians in Washington is completely out of control.
In the last election, corporate PACs gave over $360 million to federal campaigns. You see all the TV commercials they purchase with that money. This is why big corporations have such an outsized influence on what’s happening in Washington D.C.
Jared understands this is a major issue that distracts members of Congress from representing their constituents. That’s why he refuses to take corporate PAC money and sponsored a bill to ban them from influencing our elections altogether.
It seems that everywhere you look in Washington D.C., you’ll find a lobbyist who is looking to unduly influence someone’s vote. Powerful special interests have too much of a hold on Washington, and their priorities don’t match Maine’s. It’s corrupt and it’s got to stop!
We have to send a clear message that our elections are not up for sale.
