Dear John,
It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting
for our conservative values.
Many senior citizens know all too well about dealing with Medicare coverage as
it pertains to implanted “hearing aids.” That’s why I introduced theHearing
Device Coverage Clarification Act,which clarifies fully implanted active middle
ear hearing devices as prosthetics, not subject to the hearing aid coverage
exclusion. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also approved these devices
as prosthetics, not simple hearing aids. However, the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid (CMS) continues to classify them as hearing aids, which means Medicare
does not cover their implantation. My bill ensures folks can benefit from these
innovative devices and regain their hearing without being hassled by the CMS.
In last week's Roundup, I criticized DFL politicians in St. Paul for
introducing legislation to make Minnesota a sanctuary state (the "North STAR
Act"). This week, I joined the Minnesota Republican Congressional delegation in
a letter to Governor Tim Walz, denouncing the bill and urging him to veto it if
passed by the legislature. This disastrous bill would prohibit local law
enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities and state
officials from enforcing immigration laws. The sanctuary city experiment has
failed miserably, increasing crime while inundating our schools, hospitals, and
local infrastructure with illegal aliens. I witnessed the border crisis
firsthand. Now more than ever, we need to work with law enforcement—not cut
them off.
Is Joe Biden mentally fit for the job of President of the United States?
Congress and the American people have the right to know. We've all seen him
struggle, forgetting the names of world leaders and rambling off long, winding,
and incoherent anecdotes, and we've read special counsel Robert Hur's report
questioning his mental capacity. It's all very worrying. As such, I joined 83
of my House colleagues in writing to the White House, demanding that he take a
cognitive screening test and make the results public.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with.
Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
