Polls are open and I have officially cast my vote.
Being able to cast my vote in my sweet home state of South Carolina alongside my family was beyond meaningful.
And it was an incredible reminder of why we’re in this race…
The reason I’m running—the reason I continue to run—is to remind everyone what it means to be American.
I’m the proud daughter of legal immigrants. My parents left India in search of a better life. They found it in Bamberg, South Carolina – population, 2,500.
We were the only Indian family. Nobody knew who we were, what we were, or why we were there.
But my parents knew.
And every day, they reminded me, my brothers, and my sister that even on our worst day, we are blessed to live in America.
I’ve watched the American Dream unfold before me.
I saw our state move beyond hatred and elect the first female minority governor in American history—as a conservative Republican.
And now, my parents have had the opportunity to cast their vote for their daughter for President of the United States.
Making it to this day not only means a lot to my family and I, but it also means a lot for the future of our country.
America is falling behind, our future is slipping, and our leaders are failing.
Right now, in the greatest country in history, we have too many families paying too much for groceries.
We have too many children falling so far behind in the classroom.
We have too many small businesses that can’t afford rent. And too many big businesses getting taxpayer bailouts.
We have too much crime on our streets. Too many drugs are flooding our cities. And too few police and border patrol.
This is NOT the America that called to my parents.
And make no mistake, this is NOT the America I will leave to my children.
My name is Nikki Haley. I want to tell you a bit about myself and why I’m running for President of the United States.
I’m running for President because my parents came to America more than 50 years ago – an America that was strong and proud, and full of opportunities. I want them to know that America again.
I’m running for President as a military spouse. My husband is deployed and I want him and his military brothers and sisters to know their sacrifice means something – that we do love this country.
I’m running for President for the future of our kids. I have a daughter who just got married and I saw how hard it was for her and her husband to buy a home. I’m doing this for my son who’s a senior in college and shouldn’t have to worry about saying things on a paper that he doesn’t believe in just to get an A.
I’m running for my daughter, my son, and our future generations. I want them to experience the freedom and opportunity that the American Dream has to offer.
I’m running for President because we have a country to save!
I’ve seen that even on our worst days, we are blessed to live in America. But I also know that under Biden’s leadership, times are tough, our future is slipping, and America can be doing so much better.
As governor, I was dubbed a “jobs governor” because I slashed our unemployment rate, brought jobs back to our state, and shepherded in a successful economic recovery.
At the UN I fought for America, made sure our allies knew we had their backs, and stood up to murderers and dictators to let them know that America was taking names.
I know how to make America strong and proud because I’ve done it before. And I’ll do it as your next President.
As President, I’ll revitalize our economy, support small businesses, stop Washington’s spending sprees, protect our border, champion school choice, and save America’s future.
