[link removed] [[link removed]] The last week has made it clearer than ever before that abortion rights are on the ballot here in Kansas — and that we need to put everything we’ve got into winning this next election.
First, The New York Times reported that national Republicans are already laying plans to pass a national abortion ban if they win this next election. This means that even though Kansans voted overwhelmingly to protect abortion rights in our state, those rights would vanish overnight if the GOP gets its way.
Then, the Alabama Supreme Court issued a reproductive rights ruling so restrictive and extreme that it even prohibits IVF — a ban that some of my right-wing colleagues in Congress have been pushing at the federal level.
Now, right here in KS-03, we’re up against extremist opponents who have made it clear that, if they get to Congress, they will vote to restrict abortion rights.
I wish I could say that there’s a silver lining here and that we’re overwhelmingly favored to win this race and flip the House. But the fact is, this seat is a toss-up, control of the House is a toss-up, and I’m going to need to fight hard for every vote in order to win.
