We are in the midst of Black History Month, a time to honor the strength, struggle, and power of Black Americans. It is a time to remember and celebrate Black culture, as well as celebrate trailblazers in the fight for equality. To celebrate this year's theme of " African Americans and the Arts," we've been highlighting Black artists of all kinds in the Office of the Comptroller.

I'm also so pleased we were able to display some quilts from the Uhuru Quilters Guild and schedule a lunch and learn as well about this amazing art form and tradition. Last year, I was proud to kick off a new rotating art display in the Treasury Building, featuring members of the Black Art Today [[link removed]] Foundation as our first artists.


I firmly believe that we all do better when we all do better - and I know the arts help us do just that. This Black History Month provides a chance to educate ourselves, learn more about our state, and celebrate the amazing contributions of Black Americans in the arts!
