There is a startling new development in our fight against global warming: a new report says heat stress on our coral reefs is “off the charts!”
Recognizing the severity of heat stress on coral reefs, the US government’s Coral Reef Watch program has been compelled to add three new alert categories in response to soaring extreme temperatures. This comes in the wake of unprecedented heat that has led to massive coral bleaching and decimated coral populations.
We need leaders in Congress who understand the importance of protecting our important ecosystems like coral reefs and the dangers that extreme heat poses.

Coral reefs, often hailed as the rainforests of the sea, are indispensable to marine life, providing habitat for a quarter of all marine species. Yet, these vibrant ecosystems are among the most vulnerable to the devastating impacts of climate change and global warming, propelled by the relentless burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.
The time to act is now. SEEC Members are at the forefront of efforts to mitigate these impacts and safeguard our coral reefs for future generations. However, we cannot do this alone.
Your support is crucial to help us continue our work, conduct vital research, and implement conservation strategies that can turn the tide against this existential threat.
Please donate now to support our work in Congress! Together, we can combat the effects of climate change and ensure that these underwater treasures endure for years to come.
