While communities around the country are scrambling to respond to the coronavirus crisis, the Trump Administration is trying to sneak in a handout to Big Oil.
The administration is now considering a royalty relief package that would make it cheaper to drill in our public waters. This puts marine life at risk. And it threatens coastal communities that rely on tourism -- communities already facing economic downturns from coronavirus.
We can’t let Trump’s Department of Interior sneak through more giveaways to Big Oil that harm our planet while the country’s attention is on a public health crisis. Together, we can ensure the administration protects our oceans and coastal communities over Big Oil profits!

Trump clearly learned nothing from the Deepwater Horizon and Taylor Oil catastrophes in the Gulf of Mexico. These spills serve as a reminder that any drilling in our oceans is unacceptable. But instead of moving away from dangerous offshore drilling, Trump continues to push for its expansion.
Even in the best of times, we need to urgently shift away from drilling in our oceans, along all our coastlines. But it’s especially shameful that this administration is planning handouts to Big Polluters under the guise of a “national emergency.” Easing the cost of drilling activity will do nothing to help the public. In fact, it will hurt coastal communities that rely on clean and clear waters to support their way of life.
The Trump Administration should be focused on protecting people, not lining the pockets of Big Oil. Our marine life and coastal communities need protection during this crisis. With your help we can send a loud and clear message: No royalty relief for Big Oil!

The Trump Administration should have all of its attention focused on getting help to the people who need it. But instead, it’s wasting precious time and resources to help Big Oil protect its profits.
