John,
This summer will mark four years since Louis DeJoy was appointed Postmaster General of the United States Postal Service (USPS). In those four years, there have been five rate increases and mail centers have been closed and consolidated, leading to USPS jobs being slashed and mail delivery being slowed.1
All of this was done on purpose thanks to DeJoy’s disastrous 10-year restructuring plan which was supposed to increase USPS’ profits, but has instead done the exact opposite, leading the USPS to have a $6.5 billion net loss for FY2023.2
Only the USPS Board of Governors can fire Louis DeJoy, and that’s exactly what they should do after DeJoy’s numerous failings, conflicts of interest, and destructive leadership.
There are currently two openings on the USPS Board of Governors. 80 members of Congress have written a letter urging President Biden to appoint two qualified, civic-minded public servants who will stand up to DeJoy and stop the dismantling of the U.S. Postal Service once and for all.3
In this critical election year, and with more and more people utilizing vote by mail, we cannot allow Louis DeJoy’s failed leadership to sabotage our election process.
SIGN THE PETITION telling President Biden to appoint two new civic-minded public servants to the USPS Board of Governors who will stand up to DeJoy and save the Postal Service.

The Postal Service is a lifeline to people living in rural and Indigenous communities. From medications and Social Security checks to voting by mail, communities across the country rely on the USPS every day. Privatizing the Postal Service would hurt rural communities the most because―unlike UPS and FedEx―the USPS is required by law to deliver all mail to all regions at a flat rate.
The closing of mail centers and reduction of USPS staff will hit these―and Black and Latino communities―the hardest.
We deserve a strong, diverse, and reform-oriented Board of Governors in place to hold the Postmaster General accountable to the true mission and public service goals of the USPS.
Now is no time for a passive board when the problems facing us are so wide. We need leadership with enthusiasm towards building the Postal Service of the future, who will think creatively about opportunities to expand services that will bring in new revenue like postal banking and other products, instead of narrowly focusing on service cuts and price hikes.
Join us in calling on President Biden to nominate two new members to the USPS Board of Governors who will hold Postmaster General Louis DeJoy accountable.
Thank you for all you do,
