41ST DISTRICT PRIORITIES

This week I made my annual tour around the 41st Congressional District. My staff and I spoke with city leaders in both the Coachella Valley and western Riverside County about what is happening in their communities. And, most importantly, we discussed how we can partner together to achieve their goals. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have and will continue to fight for the resources that are needed in the cities and county I represent.

The meetings are part of an ongoing collaboration between my office and those who represent our region locally. We will continue to work hand-in-hand throughout the year to deliver results, maximize opportunities and address any challenges. Despite the rhetoric and gridlock we see too often in Washington, I am working towards solutions – everyday.

PROTECTING ACCESS TO IVF TREATMENTS

Earlier this week, I issued the following statement in response to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling on in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments:

Strong families are critical to our country’s future and I believe we should be doing more to help mothers who want to start a family, not less. IVF is a miracle that has opened the door to parenthood for many where it would have otherwise not been possible. I do not support restrictions on IVF of any kind at the federal, state or local level and urge lawmakers to come together to ensure these life-giving treatments are available.
