VIDEO OF THE DAY: "That’s a hard one:" Alabama senator flounders over state’s IVF embryo ruling
Sentient jock strap Tommy Tuberville clearly didn't pay very much attention in biology, because he humiliated himself when confronted by reporters over his own state's new anti-IVF policy. “Yeah, I was all for it. We need to have more kids, we need to have an opportunity to do that, and I thought this was the right thing to do," said Tuberville to a reporter when asked about his stance on the issue. When the reporter pointed out that IVF is used to help people have children, Tuberville responded "Well uh that's another conversation," which it isn't, it's the same conversation, and oh my god how the hell is this bozo a United States senator?

A New Orleans magician says a Dean Phillips operative paid him to make the fake Biden robocall
"A Democratic consultant who worked for the Dean Phillips campaign paid a New Orleans magician to use artificial intelligence to impersonate President Joe Biden for a robocall that is now at the center of a multistate law enforcement investigation" is somehow a real collection of words in a real news story — and a real warning that things are only beginning to get weird in what very well could be the last election the US ever has if we don't all vote for Joe Biden. The robocall creator, John Carpenter, told NBC News that it only took 20 minutes and cost $1 to make the AI robocall, for which he was paid $150. “It’s so scary that it’s this easy to do...People aren’t ready for it," said Carpenter.

Republicans, their corporate backers, and cops busted in huge lie about the “shoplifting epidemic”
Californians for Safety and Justice: Unfortunately, there’s a lot of money to be made by scaring Republican politicians looking for votes, news channels looking for ratings, corporations looking to offset losses, and cops looking for an excuse for a bigger overtime budget, and all are working together to convince people that there’s some kind of unprecedented crime wave due to criminal justice reform is to blame. Problem is: that's not true. Criminal justice reform programs like California’s Prop 47 have been massively successful in reducing crime and helping communities heal — so of course the “tough on crime” lobby wants to roll back Prop 47 and keep sending people to jail. Trump struggles to say "evangelical" and muddles up Israel in wild, incoherent speech at Christian event
Mr. Very Stable Genius took the stage in Nashville and went on a truly bizarre series of brags that included praising convicted January 6 insurrectionists ("they have so much spirit"), declared that he had made Israel the capital of Israel, promised to close the Department of Education, got mixed up between the real Robert Mueller investigation and the fake Hunter Biden investigation, and slurred his way through multiple words. Strangest of all was an extended bit where he mourned the loss of "baseball fields and knocker fields," presumably attempting to say "soccer." It should be obvious to anyone who watches these speeches is that Trump's brain is struggling to function underneath the incessant verbal vomit of nonsense that spews from his mouth.

House Republicans see Biden impeachment slipping out of reach
The air is quickly escaping from the rotting pig's bladder that is the GOP's attempts to drum up some kind of absurd scandal to impeach President Biden, and it's looking like all their...can't really call it "work"... time and energy are going to amount to absolutely jack-squat, which also happens to be how much the GOP majority has accomplished over the past year. "I don't see it going anywhere substantive," said one House Republican, adding that there "aren't close to enough" GOP votes to impeach Biden. Perhaps next time, they should consider trying to impeach someone who's committed a high crime or misdemeanor instead of blindly spewing Putin's propaganda. They won't. But they really should.

New Tennessee law allows officials to refuse to perform same-sex marriages
So begins the GOP's move to overturn same-sex marriage, the same way they got Roe overturned — passing laws that trigger lawsuits that get kicked up the chain to the Supreme Court, where six right-wing extremists sit waiting to do away with our freedoms and impose their Christofascist ideology on an unwilling nation. In particular, Bible-thumper Samuel Alito has recently been loudly honking his displeasure about same-sex marriage and is eager to get his chance to do away with it once and for all. It's unlikely this particular law will be the one to do it, however, since it is so vague it opens up the door for couples to be refused marriage for a whole host of reasons, including their race, religion or national origin, which is too far for even the radicals on the Supreme Court to endorse...yet.
