Dear John,

Two years ago today, Russia invaded Ukraine, starting a war that has come at the devastating cost of civilian lives and resulted in the region’s largest humanitarian and refugee crisis since World War II.

Like all wars, the impact of the conflict continues to be gendered and disproportionately experienced by displaced people and marginalized groups such as female-headed households, Roma people, LGBTQI+ people, and persons with disabilities. Today, there is a growing need for resourcing to support care initiatives, providing help to those who have experienced trauma associated with the conflict, sexual and gendered violence, and horrific acts of torture.

Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism is able to provide just that. ([link removed])

When the conflict initially broke out, Urgent Action Fund received an outpouring of donations and support. This wave of initial funding has allowed us to respond quickly and efficiently to the evolving needs of those in Ukraine.

Since February 2022, Urgent Action Fund has provided flexible, trust-based resourcing to individuals, communities, and organizations impacted by the conflict. In the past two years, we’ve awarded almost 250 grants totaling nearly $4 million USD.

We plan to continue to offer our support in the region until the war is over and after, no matter what the future holds. We hope you’ll stand with us.
