John,
I want to take a few moments and make sure you know how grateful I am for your support. Since day one, I have refused to accept a single donation from corporate PACs because I want to build a campaign you can be proud of.
I want our movement to be of, by, and for the people. I want to build a strong coalition of supporters from every corner of the state to take on the GOP establishment and political corruption plaguing Washington.
We’re running a people-powered campaign to put power back in the hands of the people of North Carolina. And trust me, we could not do any of this without you.
But I need to be frank with you. Experts are saying this will be one of the most expensive races in the country. North Carolina has always been a battleground for races like ours.
The problem is, my opponent is bankrolled by corporate special interests. Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have no problem calling up their wealthy friends to help Thom Tillis skate by.
The way I see it, they can have all the cash in the world, but there is something much more important that they don’t have — you. I’m confident that with support from people like you we can build the kind of campaign it will take to win against the GOP and flip this Senate seat.
Our first 2020 FEC filing deadline is right around the corner, and our best shot at winning this race is if as many folks like you as possible give what they can to make a meaningful difference. So, I’m asking:
Can I count on you to add a donation of $10 or more to our campaign before our critical end-of-quarter fundraising deadline? I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.
I know this is an unprecedented and difficult time for so many people. So, if you can’t afford to donate today, that’s okay. I’m just glad you opened this email and got my message of thanks.
Thank you,
— Cal
