John,

When Roe v. Wade was toppled, abortion advocates warned that the decision would kill women. A lot of them.

But 20 months later, pro-life protections for unborn children haven't cost a single life. Carrying a child to term simply isn't a death sentence--even for women facing life-threatening health conditions.

Sometimes bearing a child can even SAVE a woman's life.

When one expectant mother became seriously ill, her doctor told the woman there was no way to test her growing tumors while she was pregnant.

The physician said she needed to get an abortion to save her life.

"My daughter set out to find another doctor, one willing to tackle her high-risk pregnancy," said Tom, a 40 Days for Life participant in Maryland. "She found him, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and afterwards was diagnosed with cancer."

Cancer that was ONLY detected when she became sick while pregnant.

After giving birth, this heroic mom received treatment and remains cancer-free five years later!

"You saved Mommy’s life, [and] then I saved your life," she tells her daughter.

Tom honors both his daughter and granddaughter by wearing a T-shirt depicting his beautiful, smiling granddaughter while he stands vigil at Planned Parenthood.

Basel, Switzerland

Europe isn't an easy place to be pro-life these days, but Swiss vigil participants reported that warm spring weather and positive reactions from the community lifted their spirits.

Public pro-life witness often moves community members to ask for prayers--even for intentions unrelated to abortion.

"A man came and asked us to pray for his brother who, being a satanist, kept cursing him and his parents," reported the Basel campaign team.

Vigil participants said they were moved to tears praying the Way of the Cross of an Unborn Child. "How great is the suffering that these smallest innocents suffer, and how great are the negative consequences for all fellow human beings?" they reflected.

El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain

The Christian faith prospers under persecution...

...and perhaps no other country's 40 Days for Life volunteers have experienced more state-led persecution than Spain's.

Despite draconian free-speech restrictions, however, 40 Days for Life participants keep saving babies. The first week of this Lenten campaign, they celebrated the births of two babies saved during their fall vigil!

And a voice came from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

--Matthew 3:17

Dear God, you are a good and gracious father. Help us to stand firm in our identity as your sons and daughters so that we might share your love with everyone we encounter. Heal the wounds caused by our shortcomings and the shortcomings of others. We pray that every parent and child might know that you love them more than anyone else in the world ever can. Amen.

For life,
