Flashback to November: We emailed you about our part-time senator’s sh*tty new book, “Unwoke.”
Somehow, the book actually made The New York Times bestseller list (thankfully it wasn’t there for long). But now we may know why.
The Times listing noted that bulk purchases boosted the overall number of sales of Ted’s book.
Now, a recent FEC filing has shown Cruz’s campaign has spent tens of thousands (approximately $52,500) in donor funds purchasing books from retailers in recent months — and almost certainly copies of Ted’s book.
John, this is pathetic — especially for a man who was worth an estimated $3.1 million in 20181 and has an annual salary of $174,000.2
While we can’t be shocked our part-time senator would use his campaign dollars for his own self-promotion, we can certainly do something about it: Cutting Ted Cruz from the Senate once and for all. Help us fire him in November by pitching in what you can now.
Even if Ted hasn’t directly profited from his campaign’s book purchases (he legally can’t) it does have plenty of indirect benefits. And as we know by now — if there’s one thing Ted loves more than abortion bans, voting restrictions and inaction on gun violence, it’s seeking attention — whenever and wherever he can. Good, bad or indifferent, it’s all the same to him.
John, we need a full-time senator to provide a real voice for Texans and its communities. Not some part-time substitute who would rather spend his days boosting his books, making the rounds on Fox News and tweeting the day away.
With two of his other books having made the Times bestseller list (and we’re guessing they did for the same reasons this one did) it’s clear Ted would rather become a full-time author — and we’re happy for him. That’s why we’re doing everything to Cut Cruz from the Senate this November.
