Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Senator Marco Rubio Lead Letter to President Biden Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Sen. Marco Rubio Lead Colleagues in Letter to President Biden Urging Him to Delete TikTok Account Nehls and Rubio Lead Colleagues in Letter to President... WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) and U.S. Read more nehls.house.gov On February 11, 2024, during Super Bowl LVIII, President Joe Biden’s official campaign made its first post on TikTok, a social media platform owned by ByteDance, a company subject to the control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Yet, on December 29, 2022, President Biden signed bipartisan legislation into law that banned TikTok on all federal government devices, citing security concerns. The Biden Campaign’s use of TikTok is in direct contravention to the administration's own messaging regarding the national security risks posed by the application. That is why on February 16, 2024, I, along with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), led 14 members of the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate in sending a letter to President Biden urging him to delete his TikTok account and prioritize our nation’s national security. I am proud to join Senator Rubio in leading this effort. President Biden needs to immediately delete his TikTok account in order to prioritize our nation’s national security and put America first. Nehls Meets with the Houston Business Forum This week, I had the pleasure to update the Houston Business Forum on my work in the United States House of Representatives. In the 118th Congress, I've been hard at work fighting for the folks of TX-22. I had the chance to talk about the critical pieces of legislation passed by the House, including H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which would reinstate successful Trump-era policies and is the strongest piece of border legislation in history. Additionally, I discussed my recent vote to impeach U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. I also updated the Houston Business Forum on my legislation, the Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act of 2023, which would allow pilots to continue operations until they reach the age of 67. It would also require the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to submit a report to Congress regarding further age increases. The bill requires air carriers to maintain the rigorous medical and training requirements all other pilots in the industry are expected to maintain. This legislation would help address the glaring pilot shortage that our nation is currently facing. Thank you for having me! Office of Rep. Troy E. Nehls Presents Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition to Ridge Point High School Student My Interim District Director, Barbara Spruill, presented Rachel Kee, a senior at Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for addressing mental health issues affecting our youth and taking steps to spread awareness. Rachel met with my district team to discuss mental health concerns facing today’s youth. She highlighted areas of concern and has met with several community and healthcare leaders to bring awareness of the lack of mental health support and resources within the school system. Rachel recently sponsored a mental health awareness week at Ridge Point High School. Rachel will be receiving the Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto on February 25, 2024. Way to go! Rep.
