Blame slow-growth policies for California's housing and homeless crisis

The roots of California’s housing problems aren’t hard to trace given the reams of house-price and population data going back decades. The Los Angeles Times reported ([link removed]) the median price of a California home in 1970 was only 5 percent higher than the national average at $24,300. That year’s nationwide median price was $23,400, which translates to a low $181,000 in 2023 after adjusting for inflation.

Newsom's Budget Plan Sinks in Deficit Quicksand

The Legislative Analyst’s office has issued a revised estimate of the state’s revenue and deficit problem. The news was grim. In their projection, the deficit has grown by $15 billion to $78 billion.

Of course that’s not his official title, but Tai Milder, the first director of the Division of Petroleum Market Oversight for the California Energy Commission, recently made this first official policy proposal, and not coincidentally it has an autocratic tone to it.
