Team —
We are in the throes of a public health crisis and the bipartisan response from the Senate last night was a strong step forward in the fight against the coronavirus.
The legislation passed unanimously and it supports families, workers, small businesses, hospitals, and our public health care system.
Here’s exactly what it includes:
- Direct financial aid to American families
- Expansion of unemployment insurance for laid off workers
- Direct support to rescue small businesses
- A $150 billion Marshall Plan for our health care system
- More federal support for states and schools
- Strong worker protections and oversight on government loans
Many of you have taken action by chipping in a few bucks to help organizations on the frontlines of this pandemic or by sharing your personal story — and I need you to know that I see you and I’m with you.
I’m grateful for anything you are able to do during this time to help others. Please know I’m doing my best to do the same.
We are all in this together, so we need to continue working side by side to take additional steps to get through this public health crisis, stabilize our economy, and help it move forward — because this was just a first step. We still have a long way to go.
I’m not done fighting. I will continue working to get this bill signed into law. And after that, I will work my tail off to ensure we are supporting everyone affected by the coronavirus until this pandemic is over.
Thanks for reading. Stay safe and healthy.
— Tammy
P.S. I understand it’s a difficult time, but I’d like to ask you to chip in a few bucks to help Meals on Wheels keep our most vulnerable safe and nourished during this crisis. But please, only give if you can afford to do so. Thank you.
