All Canadians deserve a safe, affordable place to call home. And with housing and rental costs top of mind for many Canadians, our Liberal team is focused on cutting red tape and getting shovels in the ground so that we can build more homes, faster.
We’re making real progress for Canadians by:
1.
Topping up the Canada Housing Benefit to help over 300,000 Canadian households struggling to pay the rent.
2.
Putting home ownership back within reach for over 500,000 Canadians by helping them save up to $40,000 for their first down payment with the First Home Savings Account.
3.
Bringing the Housing Accelerator Fund to small and rural communities across the country to build 51,000 more homes while making sure that these communities have access to quality universal health care close to home.
Since September, we’ve unlocked the construction of more than 550,000 homes in 37 cities and regions including:

- Waterloo
- Coquitlam
- Charlottetown
- Iqaluit
- Gatineau
- Edmonton
- Yellowknife
- Fredericton
- Brandon
- Halifax
- St. John’s
- Whitehorse
- And more!
While we’re getting to work to build more homes, Pierre Poilievre has been pushing for cuts to housing investments and wants to increase red tape. His priorities build fewer homes and it’s going to take all of us to stop him and his Conservative cuts
