Dear neighbor,

During this week’s district work period, I was honored to join US Senator Alex Padilla, Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass, and other local elected officials to discuss the Housing for All Act. This bicameral legislation would invest in proven solutions to the homelessness and housing crises. It would provide historic funding for existing strategic programs that keep individuals housed and support vulnerable populations in our communities.

As the representative for coastal Los Angeles County, I know that the homelessness crisis is one of the most urgent issues facing our community. The Housing for All Act is an important step in our fight to end homelessness. To read more about the Housing for All Act, click here. AI IN THE HOUSE: Earlier this week, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) announced the formation of a new Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which I will lead alongside Chair Jay Obernolte (R-CA). The task force will work to ensure the United States remains a leader in AI technology while safeguarding Americans from the potential risks of AI.

This bipartisan group of lawmakers will engage with Members of both the Democratic Caucus and Republican Conference to find meaningful solutions to some of the biggest issues posed by AI development. I have been hard at work to address the most serious risks associated with AI and I look forward to continuing this work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: I joined Alex Witt on MSNBC last weekend to discuss current events in the House, including the urgent need for support for Ukraine and the many trials of former President Donald Trump. Watch my full interview below.

WATER WORKS: President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is working for our communities. This week the Environmental Protection Agency announced over half a billion dollars in funding for projects to protect California’s drinking water supply and upgrade our clean water infrastructure. Clean water fuels our state at every turn, from public health to recreation and public lands. This funding is part of the largest investment in clean water in American history, and it will support our communities for years to come.
