Hold Big Tech Accountable Today

Dear Friends:

We all know how hard parents and grandparents work to protect children from any and all threats, but wouldn’t it be nice if Big Tech companies had an interest in safety as well?

Today we’re asking you to write your Senator to support legislation that would require social media platforms to better protect children.

TAKE ACTION TODAY [link removed]

For far too long, Big Tech companies have largely ignored that sacred duty, allowing bullying, harassment, and inappropriate content to flood the social media feeds of children and employing addiction-inducing algorithms against them. The result of this abdication of duty was on full display as Mark Zuckerberg recently apologized to some of the surviving parents of social media’s victims.

That’s why Family policy Alliance is so thankful that Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) have introduced bipartisan legislation to force Big Tech companies to the table. The Kids Online Safety Act, S. 1409, will require social media platforms to implement additional safeguards for minors and provide parents with more control over their children’s social media use. It will compel them to better protect children from online harm.

Basic safety measures that provide children with greater privacy and limit their exposure to harmful content  are in high demand, and support for the Kids Online Safety Act is growing.

We need as much support as possible to get these safety reforms across the finish line in Congress.

That is why we are asking you to write to your Senators today to request that they support the Kids Online Safety Act. [link removed]

Contact your Senator and let them know that you expect all good businesses–even social media platforms–to aid in the protection of children.

Sincerely,
