TPUSA Contributor and Pastor John Amanchukwu was given what he called the “Jim Crow treatment” before he was kicked out of the Old Bridge Township school board meeting for reading the Bible.
When Amanchukwu approached the podium holding a Bible, one board member stated, “There is a separation of religion and education, hopefully we won’t talk about religion here.” Another person told Amanchukwu to “go back to where [he] came from.”
Pastor John told the audience: “There was a time in this country when a person like me could not get behind this lectern and speak. But in this day of diversity, equity, and inclusion are the people who believe in the big lie and fairytale of transgenderism. But for people who disagree with that, we are shouted down.”
Shortly after, Amanchukwu was cut off for “offensive language.” He shouted to the crowd to amplify his voice, and the board agreed to give him his allotted two minutes. He began to speak on the district’s gender policy but was interrupted again when quoting the Bible.
A board member said to Amanchukwu, “Don’t talk about religion,” before having him escorted out of the board room by police officers. Although Pastor John did not get to exercise his right to FREE SPEECH, the board voted 5–4 later in the meeting to repeal the district’s gender policy that allowed students to conceal their “gender identity” from parents.
