Your senators need to hear from you before tomorrow morning. No images? Click here ![]() ![]() John, I’m in Olympia and legislators are working hard before the session ends on March 7. And right now our EPC priority is in need of your help! There is a bill (HB 1368) in the legislature right now that would electrify school buses in Washington. HB 1368 requires all new school buses to be zero-emission by 2027 and all school buses on the road to be zero-emission by 2035. This bill reduces carbon emissions and protects children's health. It's a win-win! Every kid in Washington deserves safe and healthy rides to school. But our state’s 12,000 school buses run on diesel –a known carcinogen. Air pollution inside a school bus is 4 to 12 times higher than outside. With low-income kids more likely to take the bus, this an environmental justice issue. Urge your senator to support HB 1368 and make school buses in Washington pollution-free. Transitioning school buses to a 100% clean energy is an Environmental Priorities Coalition (EPC) legislative priority this year. We only have 14 days left to get it across the finish line. This bill has passed the House floor and must now make it through the Senate before it can be signed into law. Tell your senators: Support electrifying school buses to meet our state's climate goals and to protect our children from breathing toxic air. Thank you for taking action, Darcy
