Happy Presidents' Day...   Irving, TX - I hope everyone had a great Presidents' Day! On the anniversary of President George Washington's Birthday, I took a moment to remember the service and sacrifice of our first president and those who have served since. Tuesday, it was great to join Walmart in Frisco to get a demonstration of their drone delivery system made possible by Wing. This system delivers a wide range of products like groceries, over-the-counter medication and household essentials directly to North Texas homes in under 30 minutes. You can click here to watch the drone in action! Later, I hosted local medical leaders where we had a great conversation at my healthcare round table. We discussed Medicare reimbursement rates for doctors and new challenges appearing in the workforce. I’ll be signing on to H.R. 6683 to prevent cuts to Medicare reimbursement. Then, I brought together local leaders in education for a roundtable at our district office. We discussed struggles teachers are facing in the classroom, including having to take on administrative work instead of focusing on students and underage drug use. I was honored to attend Keller’s city council meeting on Tuesday to congratulate City Manager Mark Hafner on his retirement and four decades of service, including as police chief. I’d like to thank Mark for all he’s done to protect and serve North Texas. He will be dearly missed! On Thursday, I enjoyed visiting with students from the Episcopal School of Dallas’ AP Government class. We had a great conversation about my work to represent North Texas in Washington and the inner workings of Congress. I appreciated hearing their insightful questions and the opportunity to tour the school. Later, I joined Ray Trevino in Dallas and recorded an episode for his show, The Crude Truth. We discussed how I'm fighting to unleash American energy and support the oil and gas industry amid a hostile regulatory environment in Washington. I had a great meeting with members of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at our district office. We had a productive discussion about how Congress can better support Type 1 Diabetes research. Then, I enjoyed speaking with Volunteers of America, Texas. Through housing assistance, disability services, employment services, and beyond, their ministry helps uplift 1.5 million people a year. I’m grateful for all they do to serve our community! Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, I was pleased to continue building support from my colleagues for my bill, H.R. 7216, the Protecting Healthcare Employee Privacy Act. I’m working to end baseless mandates that harm health care providers and threaten patients’ access to care. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Southlake Carroll cross country runner, Caden Leonard. His dedication to athletics, academics, and serving our community led him to being named Gatorade’s 2024 Boys Cross Country Player of the Year! Congratulations, Caden! Congressional Art Competition I’m honored to announce that I was selected to co-chair the 2024 Congressional Art Competition! This is an amazing opportunity for artists to showcase their talents and one of our most successful student programs! I’m looking forward to seeing this year's artwork. The deadline to submit your artwork is April 15th. You can learn more by clicking here or on the photo below. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch Rep. Van Duyne on The Chris Salcedo Show Watch Rep.
