Koch Injected Nearly Half a Billion Dollars into Higher Ed Institutions

Nonprofits controlled by Charles Koch funneled nearly $500 million to over 300 colleges and universities between 2018 and 2022 according to a CMD analysis of tax filings. Though many of the details of these grant agreements are hidden from the public, Koch has made his motivations clear: to benefit Koch Industries and create a talent pipeline for advancing his right-wing ideology.

Koch’s Purchase of Fertilizer Plant Prompts Antitrust Concerns

Koch Industries, the second largest private company in the U.S., is attempting to purchase one of the largest fertilizer manufacturing plants in the world. If efforts to stop the acquisition through antitrust actions fail, Koch Industries will be set to become one of four dominant players controlling 75% of the market.

Nancy MacLean Sounds the Alarm on a Radical Constitutional Convention

Duke University historian and CMD board member Nancy MacLean recently wrote for The New Republic on the grave threat posed by the Right’s plot for a Constitutional Convention. The CMD research that Nancy cites shows that constitutional convention advocates have spent more than $70 million over the past decade to achieve their goal – and that doesn’t include spending by powerful groups like ALEC, which coordinates and promotes their efforts.
