When House Democrats had the majority, we passed legislation that lowered costs on everything from prescription drugs to energy costs. And even your internet bill. That’s because having an internet connection isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. But for millions of Americans, the monthly cost of internet service prevents them from having a home internet connection. That’s why I was proud to join with my colleagues to create the Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides a discount on monthly internet bills for low- and middle-income households. | Do you receive benefits from the Affordable Connectivity Program? | As of January 2023, this program has provided benefits to 76,000 households in our Congressional district. That’s direct savings right here in CA-39 of $33,330,000 annually. But this program is in jeopardy. House Republicans haven’t extended funding for this impactful program and without those funds, April is the last month that households enrolled in the Affordable Connectivity Program will receive the full benefit. That’s why I am proud to support the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act. The bill will ensure the program remains funded through the end of the year, and I will continue to urge House Republicans to bring this bill for a vote.
