Upcoming Events: Winter 2024 ( [link removed] )Photo
by April Espinoza

It may be cold out, but we'd like to extend a warm invitation to
join us at an upcoming event! In our Glacier Conversation
( [link removed] ) next week we'll have
a peek inside the critical role of the Many Glacier Hotel Winter
Caretaker, living alone in the wild and remote Many Glacier
valley.

In March, Glacier Book Club
( [link removed] ) returns with an exciting
discussion about wildlife recovery with Christopher J. Preston,
the author of Tenacious Beasts. We'll discuss the different
facets of ecological restoration from Indigenous knowledge to
rewilding practices

Tenacious Beasts
with author Christopher J. Preston

Wednesday, March 27
6:30PM MDT

The news about wildlife is dire—more than 900 species have been
wiped off the planet since industrialization. Against this bleak
backdrop, however, there are also glimmers of hope and crucial
lessons to be learned from animals that have defied global trends
toward extinction. In crisp, transporting prose, Christopher
Preston reveals the mysteries and challenges at the heart of
these resurgences.

Tenacious Beasts is quintessential nature writing for the
Anthropocene, touching on different facets of ecological
restoration from Indigenous knowledge to rewilding practices.
More important, perhaps, the book offers a road map—and a measure
of hope—for a future in which humans and animals can once again
coexist.

Ranger Confidential with Andrea Lankford

Ranger Confidential
with author Andrea Lankford

Wednesday, May 29
6:30PM MDT

For twelve years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most
impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved.
She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She
pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into
rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She
won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many
rattlesnakes.

Ranger Confidential is the story behind the scenery of the
nation’s crown jewels—Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Great
Smokies, Denali. In these iconic landscapes, where nature and
humanity constantly collide, scenery can be as cruel as it is
redemptive.

Note: This program has been moved from May 22 to May 29.
