There’s no question about it: Arizona is ground zero when it comes to the climate crisis.

All you have to do is watch the never-ending news coverage of natural disasters happening nationwide or, in Arizona’s case, just step outside in the heat during the summer to feel the effects of climate change. And if you’ve been part of my campaign since the beginning, you know it is one of the main reasons I'm running for Congress.

It is already affecting all of our daily lives — and things will keep getting worse unless we take historic, decisive action.

For me, the climate crisis is personal. I began my career working in the White House for then-Vice President Al Gore to sound the alarm on the climate crisis.

As a businessperson, I spent nearly a decade providing an environmentally-focused alternative to the Wall Street Big Banks that put climate change fighting power into people's hands. We made it possible for millions of Americans to move billions of dollars from savings deposits and personal investments out of Big Oil companies' reach and into fossil fuel-free accounts.

This isn’t some abstract or global issue for us here in Arizona. We’re facing the climate crisis right here and right now. Wildfires, drought, and deadly heat waves have become all too common.

There is no place in America where the climate crisis is a more present danger than in Arizona. But Arizona should also be the “Solar State.” We can be to clean energy jobs what Detroit is to cars and Silicon Valley is to computers.

With the right leadership and vision in Congress, meeting the climate crisis can be an enormous source of economic opportunity for Arizona and America. But I need your help to get there.
