Journal Times: ‘Peril to our democracy’ | Kaul joins 21 Democratic AGs to pressure Congress to fight 'voter suppression'

John,

22 Attorneys General from across the country sent a letter asking Congress “to pass legislation protecting against both voter suppression and election subversion.”

They said: "To safeguard our democracy, it is vital that Congress act promptly — including, if necessary, to reform the filibuster — to pass legislation protecting against both voter suppression and election subversion."

These AGs are taking a needed and courageous stand for our voting rights and we can't leave them standing alone. Add your name to ask Congress to pass new laws strengthening voter protections ASAP!

These leaders have been watching our elections for a while. From the letter:

"Each of our offices worked to ensure that the general election was conducted freely, fairly, and with integrity. Our offices challenged changes made by the United States Postal Service that slowed mail delivery and increased the risk that some votes cast by mail would not be counted. Some of our offices also defended modifications made by our internal elections administrators to ensure that voters had a fair opportunity to vote and that their votes were properly counted. We made clear that voter intimidation at the polls would not be tolerated. And our offices successfully defended democracy by opposing the effort of 18 states to overthrow the presidential election results."

The wave of bills we saw at the state level the last few years was nothing short of an attack on our very democracy. We've got to stand with these AGs and everyone else willing to stand up to protect and defend out voting rights.

We have to make sure Congress acts to make every voice heard in our elections and every vote count. Add your name and stand with these AGs today.

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.

Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.

Your support is crucial to our efforts. Will you donate today to help us protect voting rights?
