John,
Breaking news: The Senate Elections Committee passed the Ranked Choice Voting Local Options bill (SF 3868) out of committee yesterday afternoon, moving the bill past its first step in the legislative process! The bill provides local control and levels the playing field for all local jurisdictions -- cities, counties, and school districts -- to adopt RCV if they wish. It also provides election standards for consistent implementation of RCV across Minnesota and allows state certification of RCV voting equipment and tabulation systems, which would expedite election results.
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us to show support for expanding ranked choice voting in MN! If you were not able to be there, you can read all the wonderful testimony here [[link removed]] .
Next stop is the House Elections Finance and Policy Committee, tentatively Wednesday morning, March 6, 8:30am. Hold the date and stay tuned for details!
We are so grateful for your time and effort as we move the RCV bill forward at the Capitol; we simply couldn’t do this work without you.
