Friend --
After yesterday’s passage of the stimulus
bill, it is critical that
federal, state, and local leaders stay vigilant to protect our
communities and ensure that the proper resources are allocated quickly
and efficiently.
Black women are standing strong in the fight to protect
all Americans during this
pandemic and we are grateful for their service.
The San Francisco
stay-at-home-order has been in place for a week and former endorsed
candidate now Mayor, London Breed is stepping up to further protect the
public and communicate facts during the novel coronavirus pandemic in
the city:
"Even here in San Francisco, we've had private
companies go out and gets masks and PPE in general to support our
healthcare workers. We've had to basically be innovative and work with
the private sector to try and get the resources we need in order to
make sure that public health was protected. The federal government
just isn't moving fast enough. I know the speaker of the house, Nancy
Pelosi, is busting her butt in Congress to try and get us the package
we need that's actually going to help workers and not necessarily
corporations." — Mayor London Breed for ABC7

On the East Coast, another former
endorsed candidate, now Attorney General, Tish
James is making sure that New
Yorkers are safe and not taken advantage of in this crisis. She has
issued a complaint hotline for residents to report employers not
complying with the non-essential ban and any actors who are conspiring
to use this pandemic for gain:
“As we experience more cases of coronavirus, it is
imperative that New Yorkers remain calm, but stay vigilant,” said
Attorney General James. “In addition to being mindful about our
health, we must also beware of unscrupulous actors who attempt to take
advantage of this fear and anxiety to scam or deceive consumers. I
encourage anyone who believes they are the victim of a scam or
predatory action to contact my office and file a
complaint.”
Through all the chaos, Black women
are continuing to shine their light and put our communities first in
this national crisis.
As they are standing for us let’s
stand up for them and contribute today to put more Black women leaders
in office to drive forward policies that will ensure the health and
safety of this country.
Onward,
Glynda
