Sean Dougherty (CA) and Christina Khalil (NJ) are running this
year for US Congress and US Senate respectively
Friend --
The Coordinated Campaign Committee of the
Green Party is excited to support their campaigns
with a grant of $1200 divided equally between them.
Here are a few words from the candidates to introduce
themselves.
Introducing Sean Dougherty
I am an engineer and father from Santa Cruz, CA who first became
politically engaged during protests against the Iraq War and income
inequality sparked by Occupy Wall Street. Now, as a Congressional
candidate for CA-19, I’m the only contender demanding an immediate
ceasefire to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Willing to advocate principled stances even when unpopular, my
platform also calls for urgent climate action, establishing healthcare
and housing as rights, taxing billionaires to uplift struggling
Americans, creating an economy that serves communities over
corporations, and getting money out of politics to restore
participatory democracy.
While my independent campaign refuses corporate PAC donations, it
still needs grassroots support to spread this visionary message and
platform attacking systemic corruption.
Every contribution makes an incredible difference. Please consider
donating $50, $25 or whatever is within your means to fuel our
people-powered quest today!

Thank you for your help making the policy shifts our country
desperately needs - from the local level up! In solidarity for people
and the planet over profit and greed.
Introducing Christina Amira Khalil
Can you help me beat an indicted criminal who happens to be the
incumbent?
I’m a social worker who fights for the cases that slip through the
cracks. As someone who grew up in the foster care system, I know
intimately just how many cracks there are and exactly how to climb
over them.
During the COVID pandemic I was working on the front lines in
medical facilities and saw how desperately we need a universal
healthcare system that cares for all.
I am the only candidate in my race with an understanding of both
the monetary system and federal spending. I will apply this knowledge
to fund my policies, instead of asking for more of your pocket
money.
I am the only pro-Palestinian candidate in my race to have called
for a ceasefire AND an immediate end to funding Israel. My heritage is
first generation Egyptian Muslim, so for me this issue is
personal.
My campaign is staffed by scrappy, unpaid, intelligent, capable and
passionate young people. We are completely grassroots and don’t take
corporate PAC money. We are so grateful for this grant, but it’s not
nearly enough.
We need you.
Please help make our voices heard.

The Green Party of the United States has a line item in its annual
budgets for candidate grants such as the $1200 that these two
candidates received. Green Party candidates make an application for
these grants to the party’s Coordinated Campaign Committee.
In 2023 the Coordinated Campaign Committee (CCC) granted more than
$7500 to Green Party candidates at local, state, and Congressional
levels, including Seattle City Council candidates who received $600,
local candidates in Indiana also received $600, a Wichita Board of
Education candidate received $500, and a nine-candidate slate of town
candidates in Connecticut received $1800.
Your contribution to either the general funds of the Green Party of
the United States or directly to the Coordinated Campaign Committee
allows us to support more great candidates like Christina and Sean and
others, whose activism and campaigns make positive contributions to
challenge and change US politics and governance from Town Hall to
Congress.
Thank you for your support!
