Holi in the Park - Sunday 24 March 2024, 11am-3pm
Formal Gardens in Wollaton Park
Join us as we bring communities together to celebrate the Festival of Colour 2024, to welcome in spring and enjoy a new beginning for everyone to start fresh.
The festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil, good harvest, and fertility with the daubing of coloured powers.
Due to the historic nature of the park and for the safety of everyone at the event and all wildlife, visitors must not bring their own coloured powder. Suitable coloured powder will be available to purchase on the day and all proceeds will go to charity. Visitors may instead bring floral petals (not in powder form), as long as they are made from naturally dried flowers only.
Sanskriti Association of Nottingham in partnership with BollyTunes & Tandav Events will be anchoring the event. Music will include performances by NAAC students and academy.
Event location: Formal Gardens in Wollaton Park (Entry via the black gate at the front of the Hall) Parking: Main car park. Parking charges apply.

South Asian Collections @ Holi in the Park, Sunday 24 March
Get to know a little more about the South Asian Collections curated by Nottingham City Museums & Galleries, as we participate in the Holi festivities at Wollaton Hall & Deer Park for the first time. The event takes place on Sunday 24th March, between 11am and 3pm and we will be bringing quizzes, including a “Call my Bluff” style “What am I?” challenge, to test your knowledge and powers of intuition and a “Close Up” quiz, with actual objects from the collection. There will also be an opportunity to see images of other objects we have from this wide ranging collection, share your knowledge of these items and for those who are interested, an opportunity to volunteer to work with us, helping to improve our understanding and broaden its potential. We’d also like to know what modern objects you think we should collect to reflect the local South Asian communities and if you have anything you would potentially like to donate to the collections? We look forward to meeting you, so come on over and say hello.
