It's a distraction designed to shift focus away from her dangerous positions Indivisibles,
Yesterday, Arizona’s self-proclaimed “most dangerous politician in the world,” Kari Lake, released a new attack ad aimed at her opponent, Ruben Gallego, that was mostly about… well, us.
Yes, us.
(While this isn’t just a fundraising email, if that was enough to convince you to split a donation between Indivisible and Ruben Gallego, click here. Otherwise, keep reading.)
We won’t link it (we refuse to be a part of driving up Kari Lake’s views). But, reader, it was exactly what you would expect: Scary music. Big bold letters against a red background. We’re pretty sure there was a mention of Marxism. And, yes, Lake’s very best impression of the kind of voice you’d use when telling a scary story in the dark at sleepaway camp: Ruben Gallego… endorsed by evil, leftist organization Indivisible… funded by George Soros.
While this could be an email about just the latest attack in a long line of alt-right, conspiracy theory-driven, antisemitic attacks on George Soros and the organizations he’s supported over the years, it’s not.
This is an email about Kari Lake and everything that’s wrong in politics.
Kari Lake’s Ad Was Made to Distract
Kari Lake’s ad wasn’t serious -- it was spin. It was about scoring cheap political points. It was about capitalizing on fear. It was provocation over policy, division over dialogue, and slander over substance. More than anything else, this ad was just the latest reminder that, in her quest to capture headlines (and elections), Lake has sacrificed the sort of sincerity and seriousness that should define public service.
But what’s new, right?
By now, one thing we know about Kari Lake is that she would much rather distract with soundbites about leftists, wokeism, critical race theory, fake media, an “invasion” at the border, and stolen elections than talk about any real solutions. Because if she did -- she wouldn’t be talking about Indivisible. She’d be talking about her vision for America.
But look, we said Kari Lake was everything wrong with politics. We didn’t say she’s not politically savvy.
Lake knows hawking conspiracies and stoking rage like she did in this ad is the only chance she has to win -- because she also knows that her wild brand of TV personality-turned-politician MAGA extremism isn’t popular. There’s a reason she’s spent the last few weeks flip-flopping her way through every question she gets on abortion.
(This is why, further down in this email, we’re going to ask you to chip in to fund our work to talk to as many Arizonans as possible and make sure they know the truth about Kari Lake.)
Since she won’t talk about her vision, we will.
Kari Lake is an Anti-Abortion Extremist
Kari Lake has made her stance on reproductive rights abundantly clear, and frankly, it's frightening.
KARI’S ABORTION TOP 10
- Lake labeled abortion as the “ultimate sin” and outright dismissed it as “not healthcare” and “not a medical choice.”
- She’s attended the March for Life.
- She defended crisis pregnancy centers.
- She called Roe v. Wade “unprecedented and wildly inappropriate,” prayed for and celebrated the Dobbs ruling, and thanked Donald Trump for his Supreme Court picks who overturned our right to choose.
- She cheered on Arizona’s almost complete abortion ban, called it a “great law,” and praised Texas’s six-week ban.
- She backed efforts in Ohio to prevent a constitutional right to abortion
- She opposes any federal protections for abortion rights
- She wants to ban abortion pills
- She has made dangerous, misleading claims about the Women’s Health Protection Act
- She’s dodged all questions she’s gotten lately on abortion policies, including Florida’s 6-week ban and what kind of abortion ban she would enact if she were Governor.

Huh. Wonder why she didn’t want to put that in an ad.
Kari Was Right About One Thing
And no, it’s not that Indivisible is a radical fringe of the Marxist left.
It’s that there’s a lot at stake this November. So, here’s what we need you to do right now:
- Join our 2024 kickoff phonebank tonight at 7:00pm ET/4:00pm PT. You’ll get to talk to voters in Arizona about Ruben Gallego’s vision and the danger that Kari Lake poses to abortion and our democracy. And, we’re also going to be talking to voters in New Jersey about the absolutely fantastic, Indivisible-endorsed Andy Kim! Trust us, this is going to be a fun one.
- Split a donation between Indivisible and Ruben Gallego now. We’ve all seen firsthand what kind of bullsh*t he’s up against with Kari Lake, and it’s a long road to November. By splitting a donation, you get to invest in Rep. Gallego’s ground game and Project 2024, our plan to defeat Trump, retake control of Congress, and mobilize millions of voters against the anti-democracy, anti-abortion politics of MAGA.
- Tell us you’re all in to defeat MAGA candidates like Kari Lake. Indivisibles across the country will work to turn out an electoral coalition in key races that will win a new Democratic trifecta. No matter where you live, you'll be able to plug into the highest-priority races in the country through our national volunteer program that will bring people power to the places it’s needed most. This work will include tried-and-true tactics like phone banking, postcarding, direct-to-voter texting, and our groundbreaking community canvassing strategy, Neighbor2Neighbor, in target races and competitive elections.
The truth is, Kari Lake's ad is a distraction -- a smokescreen designed to shift the focus away from her dangerous positions and onto manufactured fears. But we're not buying it, and we know you aren't either. It's time to roll up our sleeves, get to work talking to voters, and send a message that fear won't win.
We will.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
