Team,
Last week marked six years since a gunman killed 14 students and 3 staff members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. And on that anniversary, there was a shooting in Kansas City at the Super Bowl parade. The problem is persistent and preventable.
Six years after Parkland, Congress has yet to take any meaningful action to stop another tragedy like it. It’s shameful. It’s inexcusable. This is an avoidable problem, but too many members of Congress let it go on because they’d rather cash checks from the gun lobby.
We must choose to end gun violence. Now.
As a combat veteran, Pat carried weapons of war every day. He knows that guns have no place in our classrooms, grocery stores, movie theaters, and houses of worship.
The Hudson Valley elected Pat to Congress with a mandate — stop this madness.
Since then, Pat was named Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. He’s fought for an assault weapons ban and other common sense solutions that will reduce gun violence, address underlying mental health conditions, and ensure that no child should fear that today might be the day they have to run for their life at school.
Team, if you believe just as Pat does that Congress needs to ditch the gun lobby and take up meaningful gun safety legislation, please add your name to his petition today.
The vast majority of Americans agree — it’s time for change. Let’s make it together.
