John —

When the expanded Child Tax Credit was first passed in the American Rescue Plan, it put a major dent in inequality and lifted 3.8 million children out of poverty.

Sadly, this crucial lifeline was stripped from millions of families after Republicans allowed the tax credit to expire.

I am fighting to expand this critical legislation and ensure the families of those 3.8 million children have the resources they need to give them a happy and healthy childhood. To do that I’ll need your help. Chip in $5 or any amount to help me retake our House majority so we can get this legislation across the finish line.

While I voted in favor of last month’s bipartisan effort to reinstate part of the tax credit expansion, we could have done more to fully expand the credit. But Republicans said no.

Under the current legislation passed by the House, families making the federal minimum wage — approximately $15,000 a year — remain ineligible, putting our most vulnerable children at risk.

Earlier this month I also re-introduced legislation to increase the maximum tax credit for child care to $4,000 per child, up to $8,000 for two or more children, and expand eligibility to low-income families.

Accessible, high-quality child care is critical for the well-being of families, workers, and our economy. But rising care costs are straining families’ budgets, making it difficult to meet their children's most essential needs.

If enacted, this legislation will help ensure all of our children — especially the most vulnerable — have the resources they need to thrive. It helps families have extra money in their pockets to put food in lunch boxes, provide school supplies in backpacks, and give the enrichment and care kids need to learn and grow.

Childhood poverty is not a fact we should accept in this country, and I never will. That’s why I’m fiercely committed to electing Democrats, ending the GOP’s roadblock to progress, and ensuring support for our nation’s most vulnerable children. Chip in any amount to help me retake our majority and let’s get it done together.
