John, I'm Sen. Pam Jochum, and I represent the 36th State Senate District in Iowa (Dubuque).

In a late night meeting this week, Senate Republicans advanced SSB 3158, which would punish public employees' unions if their employer fails to submit a list of employees to the state Public Employment Relations Board.

This is a union-busting bill, plain and simple.

Iowa Senate Democrats wholeheartedly support workers' right to collective bargaining. We are committed to fighting against union-busting attempts, but we cannot do it alone. Can you make a donation of just $20 and show our dedicated public sector employees that we stand in solidarity with them?

The GOP claims to care about Iowa's workers but their actions clearly show otherwise – in 2017, far-right Republicans used their Senate majority power to gut collective bargaining for public workers.

They slashed worker's rights and changed union election rules to favor the employers.

They can't keep getting away with this.

I've spoken with countless public sector employees who would be affected by this bill – local government administrators, school workers, and city, county and state employees – and the unanimous consensus is that they want stronger unions.

The GOP is clearly not representing the best interests of their constituents – so who are they really fighting for?

My Democratic colleagues and I are working hard to fight this bill, but we are only fighting the symptoms, not the root disease. In order to put a stop to these repeated attacks on our unions, we need to flip seats and win a Democratic majority. Will you join our coalition and support electing progressive candidates committed to advocating for our workers by making a contribution of any amount today?

[SUPPORT THE ISMF]

Thank you,
Sen. Pam Jochum
